Current position: Global Baby Care Microbiologist, Proctor & Gamble

Current position description: I am a PhD Scientist in Baby, Feminine and Family Care at Procter & Gamble, where I support innovation from early-stage research through product launch by working across upstream R&D, quality and compliance, and product release. My work focuses on translating microbiome and skin health research to drive product innovation and deliver meaningful consumer benefits. After earning my PhD, I transitioned from academic research to industry, where I work at the intersection of scientific discovery, applied research, and cross-functional collaboration, combining a passion for science with a desire to improve consumers’ everyday experiences.

Advice for current trainees: My biggest piece of advice is to not give up when things get tough. Some of the most challenging moments during my PhD ended up teaching me the most. Be intentional about exploring career paths and take advantage of professional development opportunities that align with your interests. Also, don’t underestimate the value of your network. The connections you build with mentors, peers, and alumni can open doors in unexpected ways. Finally, if you have the opportunity, pursue internships as they provide exposure and can make the transition to your next role much smoother.
