Advice for current graduate students and postdocs:
In research it’s important to fail fast – it helps you move forward faster! Also, if you’re interested in pursuing an industry position it’s important to sell yourself and your time as a graduate student/postdoc as the CEO of your own business. There are so many skills we acquire and develop, but often overlook that companies really value. Time management, prioritization, mentorship, leadership, idea generation, and problem solving are all traits we develop throughout graduate school that can really help set us apart if you know how to ‘sell’ these skills within the context of the company’s needs.
