Current position or career path:
I teach microbiology (for majors and minors) and cell biology at a small liberal arts, Catholic, Hispanic-serving institution. Dominican University serves mostly first-generation ESL speakers with varying college readiness. Most of my time is spent teaching and mentoring, and a small portion is spent on research. DU emphasizes social justice, diversity, and inclusion in its mission. I integrate these into my work by using universal design and culturally responsive teaching and discussing healthcare disparities in my classes.
Advice for current graduate students and postdocs:
1) Take your time, and do not rush. 2) Meet with your mentors regularly.
