Kalina Rossler, PhD – Speaker Bio
Current position: Medical Education Specialist, Exact Sciences
Current position description: I went into my PhD training confident of three things: 1. I loved biomedical science; 2. I loved working with all kinds of people (scientists, physicians, the public); and 3. I did not love doing benchwork to do it for the rest of my life. While everyone told me I would make a great academic, I was unsure it was the right fit for me. When I discovered the field of medical affairs, I knew I had found my home.
For the past few years, I have worked at the intersection of physicians, researchers, and the public through the medical communications team at Exact Sciences. Through a departmental merger with Medical Education, I now create non-promotional medical education materials for physicians, researchers, and patient advocates.
Advice for trainees: You can be an awesome steward of your PhD training without giving every hour of your personal and professional life to science. Better scientists are made through diverse personal interests and experiences!
